End-of-Life Doula
While practicing financial regulation law, Tess Clarkson trained as an end-of-life doula at the Open Center in New York and served the community as a hospice social and vigil volunteer. After relocating to Missouri, she served as a hospice volunteer, and is the former President of the Midwest End-Of-Life Doula Collective. She received her end-of-life doula and elder care doula certificates through Doulagivers, and she earned her proficiency badge through the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance. The deaths of both of Tess’ parents also greatly influenced her perspective on end-of-life planning. Through creative expression, she also has found the power of art with the grief process.
Tess is passionate about sharing what she’s learned to help others find the cathartic power of creative expression and prepare for their final finales and give the gift of planning. Her tips have been published by AARP’s The Ethel and The Girlfriend. Tess’s workshops, “Grief & Creativity” and “Your Best Goodbye,” a death doula’s advice on preparing for the end of life, have been shared with communities in New York and Missouri.
